Week 4: Tuesday, August 21 – Norton, KS to Washington, KS: 155 Miles

The next morning, Kristian wakes up to Dr. Crow yelling his name to get up from downstairs. One of Kristian’s duties is to be the wake-up person. Unfortunately, he forgot that we entered the Central Standard Time zone when coming into Kansas from Colorado. Dr. Crow’s made eggs for breakfast. Ali and Kristian scarf some down before heading out.

On our way out, Dr. Crow suggests we stop by his office. Ali and Kristian are both happy for this because with all the cycling they are wanting to get adjusted on a real chiropractic table rather than adjusting each other how they normally do, on the floor. Dr. Crow is a great adjustor. After Kristian and Ali are adjusted by Dr. Crow, and they in turn work on Dr. Crow, the cycling day is ready to begin. They go to the local all-in-one supermart and buy $30 in water, Gatorade and a box of 8 fudgesicles. Funnily, Kristian and Ali weigh more now than they have ever weighed. Ali’s 155 pounds, Kristian is 198. They are probably in the best shape of their lives having cycling over 2000 miles.

Kristian cycles first today. We relay 30 miles four times until the last one which we split. Along the way, we pass the geographical midpoint of the US. After passing it, Kristian decides that he will drive back there the next morning an meditate there with the intention of sending out as many positive vibes from the center of the US to the rest of the country.

By the time we finally arrive in Washington, KS, it is quite late, and the restaurant is about to close. Kristian gets take-out from the local restaurant, and then we head to the Washington Motel. It is the cleanest $40 motel they have ever stayed in. They go to bed early, getting ready for a nice sleep.
