Christy and Shah started the day of cycling and put in about 20 miles by the time Kristian and Ali met up with them. Shah continued to cycle the additional 16 miles to Monte Vista. Kristian got on the road while the rest of the team picked up supplies from the Wal-Mart. While in Monte Vista we met an awesome chiropractor that owns a clinic called Canyon Chiropractic. He offered to talk to some of his family members to find us places to stay in Davenport!
Throughout the day we cycled over several 10,000ft - 11,000ft mountain passes. It was just starting to get dark when we made it to the top of the Continental Divide. We found a small hotel The Monarch Inn after the decent of the Monarch Pass. It was a great price that fit our budget so Kristian got the room for the night. We arrived around 8:45pm just after the kitchen closed. The next town was a 30 minute drive and we weren’t sure if we could get any food. After hearing the story of the tour the girl at the front desk got the team sandwiches and some fruit. She couldn’t leave the team hungry while staying at the Monarch Inn.
